Barcelona and Girona were involved in multiple negotiations last summer, with the Catalan notably sending Eric Garcia and Pablo Torre on loan, whereas Oriol Romeu joined for a fee of €3 million.

The coming summer could be a busy one as well for the two Catalan teams, with Girona, in particular, keen on re-signing Romeu.

Girona interested in two Barcelona stars

As a matter of fact, a recent report from Jordi Cardero has highlighted that Girona are not just interested in one but two Barcelona this summer.

As per the report, Michel’s team wants to re-sign Romeu while also retaining the services of Garcia, who enjoyed immense success during his loan spell this season.

It was reported earlier that Romeu could return to Girona for roughly the same amount Barcelona paid for him last summer. It is a deal that could make sense for both the clubs.

Romeu has struggled to establish himself as a first-team option at Barcelona, while Girona still rate the Spaniard highly due to the experience and leadership he brings to the table.

Will Eric Garcia leave Barcelona?

Eric Garcia is contracted to Barcelona until 2026 and the centre-back is expected to return to the club once his loan contract at Girona comes to an end.

Girona, though, want to keep hold of Garcia, who has established himself as a trusted defensive option for Michel’s team.

Barcelona, for their part, might not be averse to sanctioning the exit of the former Manchester City starlet, as they are quite stacked in the defensive unit.

The report adds that a final decision regarding Garcia’s future could be made in the coming weeks.

In the meantime, though, Girona will likely try and expedite the operation to re-sign Oriol Romeu.
