Barcelona have a busy summer ahead, with the club not only tasked to set up a new-look squad but also find a new manager, following Xavi’s decision to leave Camp Nou at the end of the season.

The Catalans have ample time to study every available option in the market, one of them being former Bayern Munich coach Hansi Flick.

The German has not coached a club since being relieved of his duties as the head coach of the German national team in September last year.

Barcelona are aware of Flick’s situation and he is indeed one of the prime candidates for the Catalans, in their bid to find a replacement for Xavi.

Barcelona’s perception of Flick

In a recent podcast, Adrian Sanchez has offered a comprehensive update on Barcelona’s perception of Hansi Flick.

Although Flick’s last stint in Germany was not entirely successful, Barça consider that he was quite unlucky during his time with the Mannschaft. In fact, the club believe Flick had done an excellent job with Germany.

Barcelona also Flick’s spell at Bayern to be crucial. The German, after all, had guided the Bavarians to a treble in 2023.

Flick’s relationship with Lewandowski & Gundogan

Barcelona are also aware of another crucial aspect Flick brings to the table – his relationship with current stars Robert Lewandowski and Ilkay Gundogan.

The report suggests Flick is quite close to both the Barcelona superstars. Flick had worked with Lewandowski at Bayern. In fact, the Pole enjoyed the peak performance of his career under the German tactician.

As for Gundogan, he was a critical figure in Flick’s Germany midfield unit. Under him, Gundogan even became one of the team’s most important players.

Flick’s close relationship with these two stars could prove to be critical in helping Barcelona enjoy a smoother transition.

However, it must be noted that the club are also studying other options, with even Thomas Tuchel now becoming a coaching candidate at Camp Nou.
