FC Barcelona have sealed the contract renewal of midfield wonderkid Marc Bernal, reports transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The La Masia midfield talent made his first-team breakthrough this season and was in fine form before an ACL injury cut short his progress.

Having undergone surgery, Bernal is now out for the rest of the season and will only be back next term.

But as a sign of their faith and confidence in him, Barcelona have been working on a new contract for the generational talent.

Bernal signed a new deal only this past summer, committing to the Blaugrana until 2026. But now the Catalans are offering the youngster improved terms.

As per the update from Romano, Bernal’s new contract will run until 2029 and will come with a mammoth €500 million release clause.

The youngster will see an increment in his wages and on top of that, the club will also be paying him the add-ons from this season as part of the future fixed wages.

Barcelona have started signing all the documents for Bernal’s renewal and an official announcement might not be far away.

For now, the 17-year-old will see an improvement in his contract conditions, before the extension until 2029 gets activated once he turns 18 in May next year.
