Per a report by Fichajes, Barcelona have tagged Frenkie de Jong with a hefty price tag of €80 million, signalling a readiness to entertain offers for the 26-year-old midfielder.

This move comes amidst Barcelona’s financial woes, compelling them to consider offloading high-earning players, among whom De Jong stands as a potential candidate for departure during the upcoming summer transfer window.

Despite De Jong expressing happiness with Barcelona, the prospect of a change in scenery looms large, particularly with mounting interest from various Premier League outfits, with Arsenal at the forefront.

Capitalizing on the opportunity, Barcelona have firmly set the bar as the starting point for negotiations concerning the departure of the highly talented midfielder.

De Jong wanted by Arsenal

The outlet claims that for Arsenal, securing De Jong could prove instrumental in their ongoing rebuilding efforts.

As they actively seek to bolster their midfield, the pursuit of the Barcelona maestro underscores a determination to infuse quality and experience into their squad.

While Barcelona remain indecisive regarding De Jong’s future, their openness to considering offers presents a window of opportunity for Arsenal and other interested parties eyeing the midfielder.

De Jong does not want to extend his Barcelona contract

De Jong’s situation at Barcelona is quite complex, particularly considering his past connections to other clubs.

As stated before, Barcelona are open to extending De Jong’s contract, but they are proposing a reduction in his salary to alleviate the club’s financial strain.

However, De Jong doesn’t seem inclined to agree to the renewal under these conditions. Understandably so, given his dissatisfaction with the board’s attempts to offload him from the club in recent transfer windows.

With the player showing reluctance to commit to a new deal, especially with a pay cut, his future at Barcelona could be in danger, giving Arsenal and others renewed hope in their pursuit.
