Former Barcelona defender Jean-Clair Todibo is set for a move to the Premier League, with West Ham United poised to sign the defender, reports SPORT.

The French centre-back was on his way to Juventus, who were closing in on a loan deal with a purchase option. But, West Ham United appear to have successfully hijacked the deal with a superior offer.

€8 million for Barcelona

According to the report, West Ham United are tabling a proposal worth €40 million to sign Todibo from OGC Nice.

The offer is superior to what Juventus had tabled, as the Serie A giants were planning on signing the ex-Barcelona man on loan for this season with a purchase option that would reach €35 million between fixed and variables.

After all, it must be remembered that the Blaugrana inserted a 20% future sell-on clause in their agreement with Nice when they sold Todibo back in 2021.

Now, with the Hammers offering €40 million to sign him, Barcelona will earn a cool €8 million from the operation.

Given the club’s Financial Fair Play situation, any income is a boon for Barcelona and pocketing €8 million from a former player will be a welcome boost.

Todibo signed for Barcelona from Toulouse in January 2019 but never really got a proper run in the team, making just five senior appearances. He had loan stints at Schalke, Benfica, and Nice before he joined the latter permanently in the summer of 2021.
