FC Barcelona’s recent financial struggles have forced them to shift gears in their scouting strategy.

The club is now focusing on unearthing young talents from less-exploited areas, particularly Africa, where they can find hidden talents at a lower cost.

This strategy is not entirely new. The club have been working on a structural plan for some time now to gain influence and detect emerging talents from strategic African countries like Mali, Ghana, Nigeria, and Senegal.

This initiative was spearheaded by Joan Laporta himself and has Sergi Barjuan as a key figure.

In line with his strategy, Barcelona are all set to sign Ghanaian talent David Oduro, who could soon join the youth team.

Barcelona to sign another African pearl

Now, according to SPORT, Barcelona are set to welcome another African gem in the coming days. This time, it’s 18-year-old Ghanaian midfielder Abdul Aziz Issah from Dreams FC who will be handed a trial by the club.

Issah is already a regular in the Ghana U20 squad and has experience playing in the African Champions League, where he scored four goals and provided two assists last season.

A highly-rated player in Ghana, Issah has many offers on the table but he is eager to prove himself at Barcelona.

He will likely train with Barça Atlètic for a few weeks and try to convince the coaching staff of his abilities.

For now, though, the young midfielder is waiting for his visa so he can move to Barcelona and showcase his skills in Catalonia and make the most of his trial.
