It was only yesterday that we reported Barcelona’s interest in a certain Yaser Asprilla and following up on the story, journalist Adrian Sanchez has reported that sporting director Deco is currently following the 20-year-old star and he supposedly has very good reports on him.

The 20-year-old, currently plying his trade with Watford, has scored six goals and five assists this season and what has attracted Barcelona’s interest is his ability to play on the left-wing and more centrally, if needed.

Barcelona are anticipating that as the summer transfer window looms, interest from Premier League sides will start developing. In fact, it is said that many teams already have him in their sights.

But there is a problem

The 20-year-old Colombian has attracted considerable attention with his scintillating performances this season.

Right now, Barcelona are said to be preparing a detailed scouting report while also anticipating competition from other top-tier English clubs who already have their eyes on him.

Interestingly enough, the ongoing 2023/24 season is only his second campaign in Europe and since making his debut with Watford, the 20-year-old has seen a significant surge in his market value.

As such, it is said that Watford initially acquired him from Envigado for a modest €3 million in January 2022. Right now, his market value has substantially appreciated.

Reports have it that Watford would not entertain a transfer offer below the range of €40 to €50 million.

In a strategy reminiscent of the Joao Pedro deal, where the young Brazilian arrived for €4 million and departed to Brighton for a record €34 million euros after two and a half seasons, the Hornets are reportedly seeking a similar successful transaction.

It was reported earlier that Barcelona are exploring alternatives to acquire a winger and while Asprilla does not really fit into the category, his versatility could be used in times of need.
