Much was expected of Ez Abde when he joined Real Betis in 2023, for a fee of just €7.5 million.

However, the attacker had to endure a difficult start to his career at Betis, with his first season at the club seeing him score only one league goal in 26 appearances.

But it appears Abde is finally up to this potential this season, racking up four goals in 15 competitive matches. He has become an integral part of Manuel Pellegrini’s attacking setup.

Abde’s performances have not gone unnoticed either, with a host of European clubs keeping close tabs on his form.

Real Betis, though, are keen on keeping hold of the player and have added another year to his contract, which was initially supposed to expire in 2028.

How Abde’s contract benefits Barcelona

As reported by SPORT, Abde adding another year to his contract benefits Barcelona greatly, from an economic perspective.

When the Catalans sold the Moroccan international for just €7.5 million, they had retained a substantial 50% transfer rights for the player.

That means Barça are entitled to half the money from Abde’s future sale at Real Betis. And now, with his contract not expiring until 2029, the attacker is set to attract a solid valuation in the market.

Abde’s growing market value and thereby, a potential sale from Real Betis could add a significant sum to Barcelona’s coffers. For example, if the player gets sold for anywhere around €30 million, Barça would be entitled to at least €15 million.

No shortage of suitors

Abde has no shortage of suitors in the market either. Many Bundesliga and Premier League clubs are keeping tabs on the player while the Saudi Arabian clubs are involved in the chase as well.

However, Abde, for now, is happy at Real Betis and wants to continue his progress under Pellegrini. The club, for their part, are not too keen on a sale either.

Barcelona, therefore, may have to just sit back and hope for the best, as Abde continues to raise eyebrows with his sensational performances in La Liga.
