According to a report by Javi Miguel in AS, Barcelona’s upcoming training sessions are set to see the return of key players like Robert Lewandowski and Andreas Christensen on July 22nd.

It is said that Hansi Flick, the new coach, has faced initial challenges with a limited squad of only 12 first-team members, many of whom have returned from loan spells.

Hence, the focus now shifts towards gradually reintegrating players who participated in the recent European Championship.

First-team players will start returning from next week

Lewandowski and Christensen are scheduled to undergo medical assessments on July 22nd, marking their return to training.

They will be joined by other internationals such as Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, Jules Kounde, and Ilkay Gundogan, all expected to join the team the same week.

The entire squad will soon embark on a tour of the United States starting July 28th, signalling the beginning of Barcelona’s preseason preparations.

The logistics of player returns vary, with Raphinha potentially joining directly from Brazil to avoid extensive travel.

Meanwhile, champions Lamine Yamal and Ferran Torres have been granted extended leave until August 8th. Furthermore, Pedri faces a recovery period from a significant knee injury, while Ronald Araújo undergoes surgery in Finland, necessitating a lengthy rehabilitation period.

On the other hand, Eric Garcia, Fermin Lopez, and Pau Cubarsi are unavailable due to their participation in the Paris Olympic Games.

Their return hinges on Spain’s performance, with a potential last-minute inclusion for La Liga’s opening game against Valencia on August 17th. Frenkie de Jong, recovering from an ankle injury that sidelined him during the Euros, is anticipated to join the US tour.

The squad composition for the US tour, featuring matches against Manchester City, Real Madrid, and AC Milan, will be completed by integrating reserve and youth team players.

This blend of experienced internationals and promising young talents sets the stage for Barcelona’s preseason objectives under new management.
