Barcelona forward Robert Lewandowski played a crucial role in his team’s dominant 5-0 victory over Young Boys, netting two goals during the match.

However, reports from SPORT suggest that the veteran forward was unhappy with Hansi Flick’s decision to substitute him late in the game, as he was eager to complete his hat-trick.

With 96 UEFA Champions League goals to his name, it is no secret that Lewandowski always seeks more which displays his competitive nature.

Always a starter

At 36 years old, Lewandowski remains a key player for Barcelona, having started in all ten matches this season, along with Jules Kounde.

Despite his age, the Polish striker shows no signs of slowing down or asking for rest. This ambition was evident when Flick made the substitution with ten minutes left in the match.

Lewandowski, known for his hunger for goals, was not pleased with the decision, as he had his sights set on a third goal. His drive to succeed is what continues to push him to seek more opportunities, even in the final stages of a game.

Szczesny the catalyst

There may have been an additional factor fueling Lewandowski’s desire to stay on the pitch. His close friend, Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, was present at the match and watched from the stands.

Szczesny, who is reportedly set to sign for Barcelona, may have provided extra motivation for Lewandowski to stay on the field further.

Despite the frustration of not completing his hat-trick, Lewandowski recognises the importance of Hansi Flick’s management in his strong start to the season.

The German coach has ensured that Lewandowski is surrounded by more support on the field, allowing more attacking opportunities to come his way.

The combination of his own drive and Flick’s tactical approach has been key to Lewandowski’s continued success this season, as Barcelona continues to build on their strong performances.
