Barcelona’s first game after the international break is just around the corner and Hansi Flick’s men are already preparing in full flow for the critical period that lies ahead.
While the training is on with most players back from international duty, the squad has managed to squeeze in some much-needed fun into the hectic routine.
Alejandro Balde, who celebrates his 21st birthday today, was present at training and completed the morning session under Flick’s command.
The squad, however, made sure it was a special day for him.
Surprises lined up
As relayed in a recent update from Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona phenom Lamine Yamal revealed a special surprise cake for Balde on his special day and even took to his social media to wish his teammate.
With a video that showed the entire squad singing and celebrating Balde’s birthday, the winger wished him saying, “Happy birthday, my brother.”
Another young star who made it a point to specially wish the left-back through social media was his close friend Ansu Fati who put up a photo of him horseback riding Balde and a caption wishing him a happy birthday.
Amid the celebrations, however, it was still clear that the group was not distracted and the only objective in sight was to get past the next set of fixtures with good results, especially with the likes of Bayern Munich and Real Madrid lined up.
Balde did not travel to link up with the Spanish national team during the international break and is thus rested and raring to go ahead of the game against Sevilla.
While Flick has managed his minutes very cautiously this season to prevent injuries, the youngster is expected to be a protagonist in the upcoming clashes and a regular starter at left-back.
