There are whispers coming from Italy that Robert Lewandowski faces an uncertain future at Camp Nou.
According to journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Lewandowski could become a target for Manchester United and other clubs that need a striker, but there is also a sad reality that his only other option to match his Barcelona wages is to move to the Saudi Pro League.
Di Marzio told goal.pl United may wish to monitor the former Bayern Munich striker’s situation at Barca as they look to bolster their attacking department this year.
“For players like him, considering his salary and career, the next move could be Saudi Arabia. The question is whether the Saudis will be able to convince more players in the summer. Several players like Benzema and Henderson want to leave Saudi Arabia, so it doesn’t look as good as it might seem. It really depends on what Robert himself wants to do,” said Gianluca Di Marzio.
The journalist was also asked about the prospect of the Polish international continuing his career in Europe. Di Marzio added: “Although Italian clubs cannot afford players like him, he may still want to play in the Premier League. He could play for Manchester United or other clubs that need a striker with his profile.”
This seems very speculative and I wouldn’t be getting excited about Lewandowski joining just yet. Especially when it’s not a transfer we’ll be paying to conduct in January.
Not after last year’s Cristiano Ronaldo ordeal.
