Speaking to the media after his brace against AC Milan last night, Barcelona superstar Robert Lewandowski has admitted that he is very happy to be working with Hansi Flick again.

Lewandowski played under the German tactician back at Bayern Munich and enjoyed his most prolific campaign under the tutelage of the current Barcelona manager.

Naturally, when it was announced that Flick would be taking over as the Barça head coach after Xavi Hernandez’s sacking, it was widely expected that Lewandowski would have an integral role in the team.

The Poland captain, who will soon turn 36 years old, showcased against AC Milan that he can still be a force to be reckoned with and has the tools necessary to succeed in Flick’s Barcelona.

“I’m very happy and satisfied to be working with Hansi again. I think we will have a great season and end up with a trophy in our hands,” said Lewandowski about his reunion with Flick at Barcelona.

At the same time, Lewandowski urged Barcelona to show greater killer instincts and finish games off rather than taking a step back after going 1-0 ahead – an issue that hurt the team during the last season.

“We must not stop attacking after leading 1-0, but continue to put on a show. Because that is the DNA of this club. And Hansi fits in very well with that DNA with his attacking approach,” he added.

Following the match last night in Baltimore, Flick had praised Lewandowski’s performance, saying: “Very happy with his game, his two goals were deserved.”

Having not scored in the matches against Manchester City and Real Madrid, Lewandowski finding the back of the net against AC Milan bodes well for Barcelona with the new season just around the corner.
