Barcelona superstar tips Lamine Yamal for Golden Boy, approves move for Nico Williams

Lamine Yamal has firmly established himself as the hottest prospect in world football right now.

Following a brilliant 2023/24 campaign and a subsequently impressive Euro 2024, Yamal has seen his stock value skyrocket since the turn of the year.

As a result of his performances, Yamal has emerged as the frontrunner in the race for the Golden Boy award.

Everything suggests the Barcelona forward will secure the prestigious trophy, thereby maintaining Barcelona’s dominance in this field. Such sentiments were echoed by Yamal’s Barça teammate Pedri, who has recently backed the youngster to win the award.

In a recent interaction, Pedri was asked about the Golden Boy award. The Barcelona midfielder, without any hesitation, backed Lamine Yamal to secure the trophy.

“The next Golden Boy? Lamine Yamal 100%,” said Pedri on The Residency App, currently nursing an injury he picked during Euro 2024.

With 17 goal involvements last season and a terrific Euro 2024 campaign that saw him help Spain secure the coveted tournament, very few can disagree with Yamal’s chances of winning the prestigious Golden Boy award this year.

Apart from Lamine Yamal, Pedri was also asked about the future of Nico Williams, especially amid reports linking him with a move to Barcelona.

Although the young midfielder did not openly speculate on Nico’s future, he did admit the Spaniard would be an excellent signing for Barcelona.

“I don’t have an answer to that question. What is clear is that he would be a great signing for Barça. In the Euros we saw what he is capable of,” he said.

As things stand, Barça have indeed identified Nico as a priority target and are likely to come up with a substantial move for the forward in the coming days.
