Robert Lewandowski has been one of the top performers for Barcelona, playing a key role in the club’s strong start to the season.

The forward has racked up four goals and two assists in the opening five matches, serving as an able leader of the Barcelona attack force.

It appears Lewandowski is finally getting back to his best form after a rather disappointing second season at Barcelona under Xavi Hernandez.

It must be noted that not too long ago, Lewandowski was subjected to a move away from Barcelona and had several offers on the table.

Lewandowski rejected €60 million offer from Saudi Arabia

According to Carrusel Deportivo, Lewandowski had the opportunity to move to Saudi Arabia, with a bumper salary of over €60 million per season.

That would have been quite the upgrade for the Pole, compared to what he is earning at Barcelona right now.

But the Pole opted to stay in Catalonia, determined to return to his best form under the leadership of new coach Hansi Flick.

To Flick’s credit, the German did not lose his faith in Lewandowski, despite his age and stagnating form under Xavi.

s such, he decided to keep hold of Lewandowski this summer, handing him the responsibility of leading the Barcelona frontline this season.

The gamble has paid dividends, with the former Borussia Dortmund striker racking up four goals in five matches.

More than his goals, it is Lewandowski’s overall contribution in the final third, which has caught the attention of Flick and his coaching staff.

The veteran forward has looked quite comfortable linking up with the likes of Raphinha, Lamine Yamal and Dani Olmo in the final third.

As Barcelona gear up for their opening Champions League game this evening, the focus will be on Lewandowski once again, with the Pole keen on opening his tally in the coveted competition.
