Jonathan Tah has become quite the hot topic in the Real Madrid camp ever since Eder Militao’s ACL injury came to light.
The reigning champions of Spain are desperately looking for defensive reinforcements in the January transfer window, with the Bayer Leverkusens star emerging as one of the prime options.
However, Real Madrid’s hopes of signing Tah have been impacted by the involvement of FC Barcelona, who are eyeing a Bosman move for the German international next summer.
Barcelona lead Real Madrid in Tah chase
A recent report from Diario SPORT has revealed how Barcelona could pour water on Real Madrid’s hopes of signing Tah.
The report cites Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg, who observes that Barcelona and Bayern Munich have emerged as two of the likely suitors in the race to sign the defender.
It appears the player himself is likely to choose either of these two clubs and there was no mention of Real Madrid.
Both Barça and Bayern are eyeing a Bosman move for Tah as opposed to Real Madrid, who were hopeful of a January move for the German international.
The report even adds that Real Madrid’s interest in Tah has cooled in recent days, perhaps in light of Barcelona and Bayern gaining more traction in the chase.
In fact, Los Blancos are aware that they are not in a pole position to sign the Leverkusen star and have shifted their focus to his teammate in the form of Florian Wirtz as well as coach Xabi Alonso.
As for Barcelona, the Catalans have to battle it out with Bayern Munich in the race to sign Tah, who can be an excellent addition to the team’s defensive unit for the years to come.
