Joshua Kimmich has been at the top of Barcelona’s wishlist since last summer when they began the search for a replacement for Sergio Busquets.

The financial issues at the club meant that a move for the German international back then was not possible.

However, Barça have retained an interest in the 28-year-old midfielder heading into the summer of 2024 as well and might stand a chance of landing him this time out.

Kimmich could leave as relationship with Tuchel is broken

Indeed, as per BILD, Kimmich could leave Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window as his relationship with manager Thomas Tuchel has completely broken down.

The German midfielder has had issues with the head coach during their time together at the Allianz Arena and things seem to have reached a point of no return.

This comes after Bayern Munich’s recent Bundesliga defeat to VfL Bochum, during which Tuchel took off Kimmich after he lost a duel leading to a goal for the opposition.

After the game, on the way to the dressing room, Kimmich had a huge row with Zsolt Low, who happens to be Tuchel’s assistant and his close confidante.

The midfielder supposedly was left frustrated after being benched for the crucial game against Bayer Leverkusen earlier this month and things have seemingly gotten worse now.

SPORT reports that Barcelona are closely monitoring the entire situation surrounding Kimmich and Tuchel closely.

It must be remembered that Tuchel also happens to be on the shortlist of candidates to succeed Xavi Hernandez in the summer. However, at the moment, the Blaugrana are leaning towards Roberto De Zerbi as their option.

As for Kimmich, there is a major chance he could leave Bayern in the summer, especially if Tuchel stays on as manager. And with his contract expiring next year, Barcelona may have a good chance of snapping him up.

Bayern would like an amount greater than €65 million for Kimmich, but the contractual situation might force them to settle for less. However, apart from Barça, PSG are also keen on the 28-year-old.
