The clock is ticking for Joao Felix, who is still yet to find a new club after the end of his loan spell at Barcelona.

The Catalans are interested in bringing him back to Barça next season, but reaching an agreement with Atletico Madrid has proven to be a challenge.

In fact, Felix’s return to Barcelona appears to be more and more unlikely with each passing day, especially with his former club SL Benfica also joining the race.

Felix has one week

According to MARCA, time is slowly running out for Joao Felix, who has now only a week to resolve his future and find a new club.

If the forward fails to find a new club within a week, he would have to return to Atletico Madrid and become a part of Diego Simeone’s setup – a scenario that every party involved want to avoid.

SL Benfica are interested in acquiring the services of their former star player. But the operation is complicated as Atletico Madrid are sticking to their guns and holding out for a hefty €60 million price tag.

In the current market scenario, no club would want to pay such an amount for Felix, especially after his poor loan spells at Chelsea and Barcelona.

Can Barcelona bring Felix back?

As far as Barcelona’s chances of signing Felix are concerned, the club have made it clear that they are only looking for a loan deal and are not in a position to afford a permanent transfer.

That is not something Atletico Madrid are looking for right now, despite the best efforts of super agent Jorge Mendes.

Moreover, Barcelona appear to have moved on from their pursuit of Felix and are more focused on signing the top attacking target for Nico Williams.

Keeping that in mind, it is very unlikely Felix will continue to ply his trade for Barcelona next season unless something unexpected transpires.
