One of the big takeaways from Barcelona’s win over Valencia last night at Mestalla was Ferran Torres’ struggle down the left flank.

The Spanish winger struggled to complete even a single dribble and it was clear why the Catalans prioritised the signing of Nico Williams as much as they did.

With the Basque star now out of reach, Joan Laporta and Co. have their eyes on alternative targets and Bayern Munich star Kingsley Coman is said to be well-placed on that front.

One to look out for

As revealed in a recent update by Fabrizio Romano, Coman is a player to watch out for in the closing days of the ongoing summer transfer market as he could leave Bayern on loan.

Paris Saint-Germain, clubs in the Premier League and Barcelona are all interested in his signing and the player is said to be prioritising an exit. The details and terms of the operation, however, are still under negotiation.

The Catalans, on their part, have already made some contacts regarding Coman but the big hurdle to their chances is his large salary at Bayern Munich.

The Italian journalist further adds that while he is not the only name on the Blaugrana’s list, he is someone who they are seriously considering.

Coman made 17 Bundesliga appearances for the Bavarians last season, scoring three goals and providing three assists in the process. Moreover, he is familiar with working with Hansi Flick and would be a good addition on that front.

One drawback, however, is his poor fitness record. Known for his regular injury layoffs during his time in Germany, Barcelona will be sceptical of his chances of staying fit in Catalonia should he arrive. After all, the Blaugrana have had a terrible injury record in recent years.
