FC Barcelona’s performance against Rayo Vallecano was deserving of the three crucial points, as they dominated the match even after falling behind.

Several individuals stepped up to the plate, with Dani Olmo’s debut generating the most buzz after scoring the winner in the game’s dying embers.

However, the successful night was marred by Marc Bernal’s unfortunate injury. The teenage sensation limped off the field in visible pain, and the club later confirmed the fans’ worst fears: a torn ACL.

Barcelona are understandably broadening their horizons in the transfer market now, considering the lack of options in the defensive midfield position.

Danilo Pereira enters the fray

In their search to bolster the defensive midfield department, according to Fabrice Hawkins, Barça appears to be eyeing the services of PSG midfielder Danilo Pereira.

Even so, the report also notes that Atletico Madrid and FC Porto are actively competing to enter the race.

Pereira, aged 32, is certainly past the peak of his powers but offers experience at the highest level and a ball-winning profile that appeals to most European powerhouses.

Moreover, the PSG player is adept at playing as a center-back, which is his primary position.

With a contract that expires next year, he is not anticipated to take a toll on the club’s finances, heightening the probability of a potential transfer.

Barcelona, for now, are set to keep their options open. The competition from other European sides may prove to be a deterrent, while Pereira’s lack of assurance in possession may also draw some resistance from sections of the sporting department.

Stefan Bajcetic has also emerged as a realistic acquisition for the Blaugranes, with the youngster reportedly high on the club’s agenda.

Time will tell if Barcelona are able to secure a midfield signing, but they are evaluating all options closely.
