Earlier today, reports emerged claiming that Barcelona striker Marc Guiu had suffered an injury while playing for the club’s reserve team this past weekend.

Minutes after coming on as a substitute for Barça Atletic against SD Logrones, the 18-year-old felt something in his hamstring and immediately indicated the same to the bench.

But with all substitution windows having been used up, Guiu had to stay on and see out the match. It was suggested that he would undergo tests today to determine the severity of his injury.

Guiu’s issue not serious

Now, Mundo Deportivo has come forward with an update on the condition of Guiu and his injury.

The report states that it is true Guiu finished the game against Logrones with some discomfort in his right thigh which led to him not making the Barça Juvenil A squad list for their UEFA Youth League knockout match.

However, sources from the club have informed the aforementioned outlet that the 18-year-old striker’s issue is nothing serious at all.

In fact, it is believed that Guiu will be fit and available to face Granada on February 11.

Relief for Barcelona

The development will come as a relief for Barcelona, considering that they have already been hard-hit by injuries in the attacking department.

Indeed, Xavi is without Joao Felix, Ferran Torres, and Raphinha, although the latter is closing in on a return.

Furthermore, Vitor Roque is suspended for the game against Granada after being sent off in the last match versus Alaves.

Having Guiu available would thus provide Xavi with an alternative for Robert Lewandowski in the No. 9 position, if required.

The La Masia graduate made his first-team debut against Athletic Club this season and scored in the game. Since then, Guiu has featured five times for Xavi’s side, scoring two goals in total.
