Barcelona’s 16-year-old forward Lamine Yamal has made quite an impact this season. While the overall performance of the team has declined, the forward’s trajectory has been on the rise ever since the season began.
In this context, journalist Gabriel Sans has reported via Mundo Deportivo that within the Barcelona locker room, everyone, including the veterans, is amazed by his performances.
Interestingly enough, the 16-year-old has been leading Barcelona’s attacking unit almost single-handedly in the last few matches, scoring two goals against Granada and providing an assist against Celta and this has gathered the well-deserved appreciation from his teammates.
Yamal is a creative and young leader
The youth team player from La Masia once again showcased his creative prowess against Celta Vigo, consistently posing a threat whenever he had possession of the ball. For what it is worth, his creative style became Barça’s sole offensive strategy to confront their rival.
He executed the most fearsome shots, delivered a technically exquisite pass that resulted in an assist for Robert Lewandowski’s first goal, and drew the penalty for the second.

Despite being just 16 years old, Yamal’s commitment to the team and refusal to back down impresses Xavi.
Furthermore, acknowledging his contributions, key players like Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, Ilkay Gundogan, and Lewandowski himself testify to the pivotal role Yamal plays in releasing the team from challenging situations. They see him not only as a leader but also as a humble one at that.
Yamal’s performance in numbers
His appearance against Celta was his seventh start of the season and he differentiated himself from the others by creating two goal-scoring chances and he also had the most successful dribbles (2).
Throughout the season, Lamine has contributed to 11 out of Barça’s 52 goals, scoring five and providing six assists. His exceptional chemistry with Lewandowski is evident and it is safe to say that there is now no looking back.
