It has been a busy period for Barcelona youngster Lamine Yamal as the 16-year-old whizkid has been playing constantly, game after game, without respite in recent weeks.

The Blaugrana have been careful and judicious when it comes to giving minutes to the teenage La Masia wonderkid this season.

However, injuries to the likes of Raphinha, Ferran Torres, and Joao Felix have meant that Xavi has been forced to start Yamal constantly in recent matches.

Yamal set for sixth consecutive start vs Granada

And, that trend is unlikely to change this weekend when Barcelona take on Granada in La Liga, if a report from SPORT is to be believed.

Indeed, the Catalan publication is reporting that Yamal is poised to make his sixth consecutive start this Sunday when the Blaugrana take on the relegation-battling side at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys.

After the Copa del Rey clash versus Unionistas in January, Yamal has started all five matches he has been available for in all competitions.

The teenage winger started and played 90 minutes against Real Betis and then featured from the get-go against Athletic Club in the Copa del Rey quarter-finals playing more than 90 minutes then as well.

Post that, Yamal has started in each of Barça’s past three league encounters against Villarreal, Osasuna, and Alaves, playing the full game on each occasion.

Given his young age, there are bound to be concerns about the minutes taking a toll on his physical state.

But with there being enough gap between the games this week, Yamal is again expected to start this Sunday against Granada.

The regular minutes have only helped Yamal take his game to the next level, with the La Masia graduate emerging as one of Barça’s most in-form players in recent weeks.
