This past few weeks have been quite special for two of Barcelona’s youngest stars – Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsi.
While Cubarsi is poised to make his debut for the Spanish national team this weekend, Yamal has made waves across Europe with his blistering performances.
Yamal was the standout performer in Barcelona’s recent run of wins in La Liga and in the Champions League game against Napoli.
Yamal wants to captain Barcelona
In light of his recent success, Lamal has recently spoken about his ambitions at Barcelona and what he plans to achieve at the club in the years to come.
While the Spaniard talked at length about the season so far, the notable part of the interview saw him express his desire to become the Barcelona captain someday.
“It would be a dream for me to be captain,” said Yamal, who is among the attackers likely to participate in the upcoming European Championship.

Yamal’s ten-year outlook
At just 16, Yamal is currently the youngest first-team regular in the Barcelona senior team. So quite naturally, the youngster has a long way to go before he can even be considered for a captaincy position at Camp Nou.
However, over the course of the next ten years, Yamal certainly has it in him to become the face of the Barcelona frontline and even take on the captaincy role.
But for that, Yamal must continue his rapid progress and cannot let injuries mar his career like Ansu Fati. He must also showcase his commitment to the Barça cause and resist any big offers coming from the rest of Europe.
Yamal’s current deal at Barcelona expires in 2026, but there is a pact in place to extend it until 2030 once the Spaniard turns 18.
