The supply line at the Barcelona academy continues to churn out special talents one after the other, with Guille Fernandez being identified as one of the most exciting prospects at La Masia currently.

Just 15 years of age, the teenage midfielder is already playing for Juvenil B, a level higher than his age group and has also featured in the UEFA Youth League with the Juvenil A outfit.

Barcelona plan renewal talks with Guille Fernandez

In terms of ceiling and potential, Barcelona place Guille Fernandez at the top of the projection scale, reports Toni Juanmarti.

The Barça midfield gem is considered a structural part of La Masia, which is why the club is determined to present him with an important sporting roadmap to achieve his renewal.

Talks for an extension have not yet started. There is strong interest from German clubs in the player, although the 15-year-old prodigy prioritises remaining at Barcelona.

Guille will finish his current contract on 30 June, at which point the young talent enters the youth phase of his career and can therefore sign a three-year contract until 30 June 2027.

The desire of the Catalan club is to guarantee the continuity of the midfielder, who has already been called up to the Barça Atlètic squad once this season.

As of today, negotiations for his renewal have not started. They will do so soon amid strong interest from very important teams in Germany. Guille’s priority, however, is to continue at Barça, the club where he dreams of success.

Only behind Lamine Yamal

As far as Barcelona are concerned, Guille Fernandez is seen as a special talent only behind another La Masia product Lamine Yamal.

After Lamine, who is currently the jewel in the crown, the club already places Guille in a second step in terms of progression.

However, the report adds that Fernandez is not alone at this level, as three or four other players are also considered to be structural for the Barça of the future.

As such, Guille wishes to stay put at the club. In fact, the player’s entourage and his agent, Jorge Mendes, also wish for him to continue at Barcelona.

The relationship with the club chaired by Joan Laporta is more than good, but to get the player’s ‘yes’ it will take a strong proposal that is indicative of Barça’s confidence in Guille.

Even though Barcelona might be unable to match offers from some other clubs interested in him, that is unlikely to be an issue. Instead, the sporting roadmap that the Catalans present Guille could be key to clinching his extension.
