In a recent development, journalist Philipp Hinze has revealed that RB Leipzig have informed Barcelona they need to significantly improve both their initial offer and the payment terms after their first bid for Dani Olmo was rejected.

He adds that despite media speculation, Manchester City have not made any offers for the Euro 2024 winner and even with the initial rejection, Barcelona still seem to be leading in the race to sign Olmo.

Earlier today, we reported that Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco, recently met with Olmo’s agents, Juanma Lopez and Andy Bara, to discuss the transfer.

The meeting concluded on a positive note, indicating that both parties are making progress in finalizing the deal.

Amidst all this, Barcelona’s initial offer of €40 million, payable in four annual instalments, with an additional €20 million in performance-based bonuses, was deemed unacceptable by RB Leipzig

The German club found the proposal “ridiculous” due to the lenient payment terms, which would have allowed Barcelona to delay payment for at least six months.

The first instalment of €10 million was not due until January 2025, with additional payments linked to the club’s performance in La Liga and the Champions League.

Despite the rejection, though, RB Leipzig remain open to negotiating with Barcelona, provided they improve their offer.

This development highlights Barcelona’s determination to sign Olmo, who has emerged as a key target for the club. With Deco and Olmo’s agents working closely together, a revised offer is expected to be submitted soon.

Overall, while the first offer was rejected, the ongoing discussions and willingness from both sides to continue negotiating provide hope for Barcelona fans.

The club’s efforts to improve their offer and meet RB Leipzig’s demands will be key in determining whether Dani Olmo will wear the Barcelona jersey in the near future.

Will Barcelona succeed in signing the coveted player, or will other suitors enter the fray? Only time will tell.
