Marc-Andre ter Stegen had a huge hand in Barcelona’s La Liga title triumph during the last season. The German international came up clutch for the Catalans time and again and ended the campaign with record numbers while also winning the Zamora Trophy.

The fact that Barça have leaked so many goals in the past few months, coinciding with Ter Stegen’s absence due to back surgery, is not a surprise.

The German international is expected to be back in the starting XI tomorrow against Granada, which comes as good news.

The future in safe hands?

Ter Stegen, 31, signed a new contract with Barcelona until the summer of 2028, and will likely have the goalkeeping position locked in until he decides to step down or step away.

And, as per a report from AS, Barcelona believe they have the future of the goalkeeping position in safe hands once Ter Stegen moves on.

The report states that the Blaugrana have complete trust in two teenage talents Diego Kochen and Aron Yaakobishvili to rise to the challenge and establish themselves as future first-team starts at the club.

Kochen, 17, has been with Barça since 2019 and has been a regular in first-team training and squad lists in the past few months during Ter Stegen’s absence.

The teenage starlet even made his unofficial debut for the senior team during the friendly against Club America in December and recently signed a new contract with the club.

As for Yaakobishvili, the 17-year-old has been with the Blaugrana since 2018 and is in the Juvenil A setup currently, while getting a taste of training with the senior team and Barça Atletic every now and then.

Known for his footwork, the teenage Hungarian has been tipped for a bright future and Barça trust him and Kochen to be the future of the goalkeeping position at the club.
