Barcelona sent Ansu Fati out on loan to Brighton & Hove Albion last summer in the hope that he can rejuvenate his career after going through a lean period due to injuries and lack of form.

But things have hardly gone according to plans for the La Masia graduate in England. Just when he was starting to find his feet in Roberto De Zerbi’s side, another injury struck, ruling him out for over two months.

Since returning, Fati has barely featured for Brighton, with De Zerbi even being critical of the Spanish youngster at times. His situation poses a major issue for Barcelona heading into the summer.

Barcelona not clear about Fati future

Now, AS reports that Barcelona are unsure about what to do with Ansu Fati when he returns to the club at the end of the season.

The 21-year-old has struggled at Brighton, having made only three starts so far in his stint while not scoring a single goal since November last year.

Given his situation, an extended stay at Brighton, on another loan deal, is pretty much ruled out at this point and the La Masia forward will return to Barça.

However, manager Xavi does not seem to be in favour of having Fati in his squad for next season either.

Considering that his stock has fallen drastically, there are unlikely to be sizeable offers for Fati either, so another loan exit would seem likely.

However, at the same time, some people within the club point out that this is a player who is only 21 years old and who could once again be as decisive as the record-breaking teenager he was when he first appeared in the team.

The player, for his part, remains eager to continue at Barça once he returns from Brighton.

So, there is still some level of uncertainty as far as Fati’s next move is concerned and it remains to be seen how Barcelona handle the situation.
