Thomas Tuchel’s trials and tribulations at Bayern Munich this season have been well documented.

The German has struggled to steady to ship in Bavaria, failing to retain Bayern’s unwavering dominance in German football.

The Bavarians, in fact, are trailing Leverkusen by eight points at the top, with just 12 matches remaining until the end of the season. Bayern are also out of the DFB Pokal while they lost their first leg UCL Round of 16 encounter against Lazio.

In the aftermath of that result, Bayern announced they would be parting ways with Tuchel at the end of the season.

Barcelona aware of Tuchel’s credentials

Bayern’s announcement essentially means Tuchel may also become a free agent in the coming summer, which has put Barcelona on red alert.

This is according to Adrian Sanchez, who suggests that the Catalans value Tuchel highly due to his knowledge of how big leagues work.

During his coaching career, Tuchel has managed clubs such as PSG, Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund. He won the Champions League and the Ligue 1 title during his career, while he was close to winning the Bundesliga title at Dortmund in 2015.

Barcelona value Tuchel’s work at Dortmund, in particular, as the German had nurtured several young players, including Ousmane Dembele.

Tuchel keen on a big project

After failing at Bayern Munich, Tuchel, for his part, is keen on another big project. He is ‘crazy’ to join a team that gives him the keys to a project, much like what Xavi had at Barcelona.

Hiring Tuchel in the coming summer, therefore, could fit the bill, as far as the German’s requirements are concerned.

But as for Barcelona, the club do have other options in hand, including the likes of Hansi Flick and Roberto De Zerbi.

Those options are likely to take precedence before Barça even consider hiring Tuchel in the coming season.
