Even at the age of 35, Robert Lewandowski remains an important player for Barcelona as the club gear up for the season ahead.

Set to embark on his third season at the club, Lewandowski is expected to play a key role for the Catalans under the leadership of new coach Hansi Flick.

Lewandowski’s relationship with Flick makes him a vital cog in Barça’s attack, which will now be reinforced by the addition of RB Leipzig forward Dani Olmo.

With less than two weeks remaining before the start of the new season, Lewandowski recently talked about his ambitions and goals, even at the ripe age of 35.

Lewandowski’s goals next season

“I’m still hungry to win more and score more goals,” Lewandowski said (h/t Mundo Deportivo), in a recent media interaction.

The Pole, who scored 59 goals in 91 competitive matches since joining Barcelona two years ago, was criticised by many for his performances last season.

The veteran, though, remains committed to the idea of scoring goals for his team as long as he is playing.

“If you hear your name called because you’ve scored a goal, these are things that are sometimes difficult to put into words, but that’s a moment that puts you in a different world,” he said.

“I don’t want to forget that feeling, and I want to enjoy that sensation for as long as possible in my life,” he concluded.

Lewandowski has been involved in both of Barça’s friendlies in the US so far, though he has yet to open his account. He will be hopeful of doing so as the Blaugrana take on AC Milan in their final friendly of the US tour, later in the day.
