There have been some speculations surrounding the future of Barcelona veteran midfielder Ilkay Gundogan of late.

After all, the 33-year-old is on the radars of Turkish giants Fenerbahce and Galatasaray, while clubs from Qatar have also been knocking on his doors.

However, according to Mundo Deportivo, Ilkay Gundogan and his agents have made it abundantly clear to Barcelona that the midfielder does not intend to leave the club this summer despite the interest.

Gundogan is aware that he will have increased competition for places in the squad in the upcoming season but believes he can be an important part of the team under new manager and compatriot Hansi Flick.

Barcelona, for their part, are not closing the doors on an offer for the former Manchester City captain if there is a proposal that suits all parties involved.

However, Gundogan’s uncle and agent, Ilhan Gundogan, has made it clear to Barça director Deco that they do not intend to listen to any offers this summer.

The German midfielder is delighted in the city of Barcelona and wants to do something big at the Catalan club.

As such, despite the lure of playing in Turkey or earning a lucrative contract from the Middle East, he is uninterested in a departure and intends to stay at Barcelona.

Currently a part of the squad on the US pre-season tour, Gundogan got his first minutes under Flick against Real Madrid this past weekend.

The 33-year-old midfielder is expected to get more minutes in the upcoming friendly against AC Milan as he aims to get back to top rhythm in time for the new season.
