Robert Lewandowski’s struggles at Barcelona have been well-documented this season. After all, the Poland international only has nine goals in La Liga so far and the evident toils have already been acknowledged by his national team manager, Michal Probierz, who has expressed how “frustrated” he is by Barça’s performance.

Given the gravity of his presence, a lot was expected from the veteran forward and while it is not entirely his fault, the fact remains that his turnaround in front of the goal has diminished to a great extent.

Considering the situation at hand, questions regarding his future at Barcelona are bound to surface and if a report from SPORT is to be believed, the Pole is still prioritising his continuity but wants to see the sporting project beyond Xavi before making a decision.

Lewandowski is valued at Barcelona

It’s no secret that Lewandowski hoped for a better season but he now focuses on staying with the team while waiting for a new exciting project with a new coach.

The forward is highly respected at Barça for his professionalism and good physical condition and despite a tough injury in Porto, the club wants him to stay, even maintaining his salary for the third year of his contract, making him the highest-paid player within the team.

Currently, Lewandowski is anticipating potential squad improvements. He’s comfortable in Barcelona, even though his performance this year isn’t his best, having scored 14 goals and six assists in 31 games across all competitions.

Barcelona will respect Lewandowski’s decision

Barça will respect whatever decision Lewandowski makes as they have a good relationship with him and his agent, Pini Zahavi.

Whether he continues leading the team or accepts a lucrative offer elsewhere, the club will acknowledge his contributions.

Lewandowski joined Barça from Bayern Munich, making a significant economic effort. He was a key signing for Joan Laporta, and his performance has consistently been good.

The veteran believes he has at least three more years at a high level, and the club sees him as a crucial part of the project for at least another year but only if he chooses to stay.
