Barcelona picked up yet another victory last night, beating Deportivo Alaves 3-1 away in Vitoria in La Liga.

Goals from Robert Lewandowski, Ilkay Gundogan, and Vitor Roque fired Xavi Hernandez & co. to an important win against Luis Garcia’s men.

The only blemish on the night came in the form of Roque’s sending-off minutes after he scored against Alaves.

What happened?

Roque came on as a substitute for Barcelona against Alaves in the 59th minute and was on the scoresheet four minutes later to make it 3-1 in favour of his team.

Not long after, the 18-year-old was shown his first yellow card of the game as he accidentally caught Alaves’ Nahuel Tenaglia in the face.

But things turned worse for Roque in the 72nd minute as referee Martinez Munuera showed him a second yellow card and sent him off for a foul on Rafa Marin, even though it only appeared as the 18-year-old had slightly brushed the defender’s foot.

SPORT is now reporting that Barcelona will appeal against Vitor Roque’s sending-off against Alaves last night.

The Blaugrana were unhappy with the decision made by Munuera as there was not much in the youngster’s challenge on Marin.

Manager Xavi aired his frustration on the matter after the game, claiming that Barça were receiving harsh treatment by officials.

“We are going to appeal Vitor Roque’s red card. This is a mistake! There are a lot of refereeing decisions against us. I’m not just saying it, it’s an observation,” he said.

“I think we are paying for the Negreira case… You have already seen it today. But I am not going to talk more about the referees. Another mistake again!”

Barcelona’s official English ‘X’ account also mocked the decision with a post that read ‘LOL’.

An appeal will be lodged against Roque’s red card and it remains to be seen whether it is overturned or not.
