Barcelona will have to make a few important sales in the summer in order to address their Financial Fair Play problems.
For the club to be able to go back to the 1:1 rule, a couple of big sales will be needed. And names like Frenkie de Jong and Jules Kounde are being talked about as potential sacrificial lambs that the Catalans could part ways with in the summer.
But a fresh report from Mundo Deportivo’s Fernando Polo has thrown a new name into the mix as a possible departee in the summer.
Barcelona could sell Balde if a big offer arrives
Indeed, as per the report from MD, Barcelona will consider selling star left-back Alejandro Balde in the summer if a big offer arrives for him.
Balde, 20, is a product of Barça’s famed La Masia academy and enjoyed a spectacular breakthrough campaign last season.
On the back of it, the Spanish international was handed a new long-term contract until 2028 with a €1 billion release clause. He was also given the iconic #3 jersey worn by club legend Gerard Pique.

The defender is currently out injured and will not play again this season. And while Barcelona do not contemplate his departure in the summer, they will not dismiss any big offers that arrive for him.
Possible replacements
In case Balde ends up leaving in the summer, Barcelona would prefer to bring in a more experienced player to replace him according to the report.
As such, the name of Las Palmas left-back Sergi Cardona is under consideration, with the 24-year-old set to become a free agent in the summer.
Meanwhile, the option of integrating another La Masia graduate, Alex Valle, currently away on loan at Levante, is not ruled out either.
However, it must be stressed that Barcelona are not extensively looking to sell Balde at this point. But if a huge offer was to arrive for him, it would be studied.
