On Wednesday night, FC Barcelona confirmed their first signing of the summer for the first team, with Pau Victor arriving from Girona.

The 22-year-old striker was signed for a fee worth a smidge lower than €3 million and signed a five-year contract that will run until 2029.

Victor spent the last season on loan with Barça Atletic and netted 20 goals for the reserve team, making a huge impression on the Catalan outfit.

Flick will watch Victor before deciding

As mentioned earlier, Pau Victor is a first-team signing for Barcelona even though he spent the last season on loan with the reserves.

Now, SPORT reports that the Blaugrana even have laid out a roadmap for the 22-year-old Spaniard for the coming weeks.

Victor is brimming with talent and goals, as was seen last season with the subsidiary team.

Now the only thing that remains to be decided is whether he is in a position to star in a fully-fledged first-team role like Fermin Lopez did last season or whether he should continue with his process of growth outside Can Barça.

As such, the aim is to closely follow the development of the young striker in pre-season and the friendlies in the USA, with the player already starting training under Hansi Flick today.

Multiple proposals

The report further adds that since the end of last season, both Barcelona’s sporting department and Victor’s entourage have received a long list of proposals for loan deals or transfers in the run-up to the 2024/25 season.

But the Catalan club have put this issue on hold while waiting to analyse the performance of the 22-year-old forward.

Barcelona’s technical reports on the youngster are excellent, but the attacking places in the first team are particularly coveted.

Manager Flick, who is aware that the speed and goalscoring ability of Victor is not easy to find on the market, will have to make the final decision.
