With the new manager set to be confirmed and the summer transfer window on the horizon, FC Barcelona will be looking to make some critical tweaks to the squad.

It is well-known by now that the sporting department, led by director Deco, is looking to sign a new defensive midfielder, despite having a deal for Guido Rodriguez all tied up.

But it appears that the Catalans intend to make a headline signing to strengthen the frontline as well.

Barça want a ‘top signing’, two players on the agenda

Indeed, as per journalist Jose Alvarez, Barcelona want to make a ‘top signing’ in the summer and have two forwards on their radars – Luis Diaz of Liverpool and Nico Williams of Athletic Club.

Luis Diaz has been linked with Barça for quite some time now, with the Colombian international’s father himself confirming not very long ago that a move to La Liga would be a dream for the winger.

The Blaugrana had explored his signing before his move to Liverpool and the attacker is now back on the agenda, with Deco even seeing him as a ‘dream target’ to reinforce the left flank.

Any for Diaz, though, could end up costing in excess of €75 million, which would be a problem for Barcelona in their current financial situation.

Nico Williams could cost €60 million

As for Nico Williams, the Spanish international has been on the Blaugrana’s radars for a long time now, but with Bayern Munich recently joining the race as well, things could get complicated.

Furthermore, the Athletic Club winger signed a new contract last year, which includes a release clause worth around €60 million.

The 21-year-old might be seen as a more affordable option by the Blaugrana but they would still need to make one important sale to raise the funds.
