With the summer transfer window four months away, the planning for the period is already underway at FC Barcelona.
The summer will again be a crucial one for the Blaugrana, for there will be a managerial change while the squad also needs to be altered to the new head coach’s preference.
But the Catalans continue to be mired in Financial Fair Play problems, making it very difficult to go about their business freely in the market.
Barça president Joan Laporta, in a recent interview, explained that the club was positive about reaching the 1:1 rule in the summer if their current budget was met.
“We are working very well. The budget is very ambitious. In principle, we will return to the 1:1 rule of financial fair play,” Laporta had said. But the reality is very different.
1:1 rule difficult to achieve
Indeed, according to Marta Ramon of RAC1 (via SPORT), Barcelona will have a hard task of achieving the 1:1 rule in the ‘fair play’.
As per the report, Barça would not have enough fair play margin even with a super sale of one of their stars.
Not even the hypothetical sale of Ronald Araujo, wanted by Bayern Munich, for €100 million, would allow Barcelona to return to the 1:1 rule in La Liga.
Beyond the sale of a top star like Araujo (or Frenkie de Jong), Barcelona would have to close the exit of two or three more players and recover the outstanding amount from the Barça Vision sale, which Libero defaulted on.
So, as things stand, things look complicated for Barcelona as they hope to achieve 1:1 rule in the summer so that they can reinforce the squad to the taste of the new manager who replaces Xavi.
