Barcelona have drawn the curtains on the summer transfer window with no room to sign any more players due to their Financial Fair Play situation.

The Catalans explored the possibility of signing Jonathan Tah from Bayer Leverkusen late in the window.

But with the German champions demanding €30 million for his signing and there being no Fair Play margin, the operation was never likely to go through.

Barcelona could revisit interest in Tah

However, according to Toni Juanmarti, Barcelona could revisit their interest in Jonathan Tah either in January next year or in the summer of 2025, when he will be available for free.

The Catalans’ interest in the 28-year-old is serious and genuine but the focus was always going to be for the winter or next summer window, considering the club’s current FFP situation.

Tah is attracting interest from Bayern Munich as well but if he stays with Leverkusen beyond this summer, the Blaugrana will explore the possibility of signing him in six months or a year.

Barcelona are expected to be in a better position in January with the Nike deal likely to be completed.

Furthermore, Tah will only have six months left on his deal at that time and could be available for a lesser price in the winter. If he stays until the end of the season, he can be signed for free.

But it will be only possible if Tah does not leave for Bayern Munich before the summer transfer window closes on Friday or does not renew with Leverkusen in the coming months.
