A recent report from Diario SPORT has highlighted a set of new transfer policies Barcelona have adopted under the leadership of new sporting director Deco.
These new policies will be applicable even for the coming summer, with Barcelona poised for another squad makeover.
Broadly, Barcelona’s policies will revolve around the exploration of new young talents, who can add quality and option to the team. The club will only spend money on a certain set of players, which the club consider absolutely necessary.
Barcelona set aside money for defensive pivot
One of these areas could be the defensive midfield position. As per the report, Barcelona will set aside a major chunk of the transfer budget on a new number six.
Quite evidently, the addition of a new defensive midfielder is considered need of the hour at Barcelona, especially given the way the team has struggled since the departure of Sergio Busquets.

This forced Xavi to bank his luck on Andreas Christensen in the number six. While the bet has worked out extremely well so far, Barça do require a more natural option in the position.
Not to mention, there are uncertainties over Christensen’s future at Camp Nou, with many believing the club may cash in on the Danish international if they receive a good offer.
Keeping that in mind, Barcelona are ready to pay the big bucks to sign a new defensive midfielder this coming summer.
The club have been linked with moves for Joshua Kimmich, Martin Zubimendi and even Rodri in the recent past. One thing is for sure – the club cannot make a mistake in the market and must be spot-on with their acquisition.
