Journalist Sergi de Juan, writing for AS, has stated that Barcelona forward Raphinha will need to put in a lot of effort to regain his spot in the starting lineup under new coach Hansi Flick, especially with the possible arrival of Nico Williams.

Despite ongoing media rumours, Raphinha is determined to stay with Barcelona. However, he understands that if Nico joins the team, he will have to fight hard to earn his place in the starting eleven once again.

This has been Raphinha’s situation since he joined Barcelona, even though he came with high recommendations and the club paid a hefty €58 million for him.

Initially, Ousmane Dembele blocked his path to becoming a starter on the right wing. After Dembele left, young talent Lamine Yamal emerged.

Raphinha has made a solid statement

Through dedication and consistently solid performances, Raphinha eventually established himself in Xavi’s Barcelona squad. Neither Joao Felix nor Ferran Torres could outperform him or match his stats.

Two potential challenges now threaten Raphinha’s starting position: the potential signing of Nico and the possible retention of Ansu Fati.

Raphinha, a key player for Xavi and considered the least typical Brazilian in terms of playing style, will need to demonstrate his worth to Flick. He will have to do this quickly since he is currently on vacation after participating in the Copa America.

Raphinha is one of a kind

Raphinha possesses qualities that could make him a valuable asset in Flick’s Barcelona. He is strong in high-pressure situations and works tirelessly for the team from start to finish.

Flick is known to favour an intense style of play, where the team positions itself in the opponent’s half to regain possession quickly and launch attacks.

While Raphinha may struggle in static attacks due to his one-on-one skills, he excels in open spaces, making him one of the best in the Barça squad in such scenarios.

The competition for a starting spot will be fierce, but Raphinha’s work ethic and determination might give him the edge he needs.
