After missing out on Nico Williams, Barcelona are desperately looking for a replacement signing for the left-wing.

Rafael Leao was seen as a possible candidate for a short time, but it soon became clear that the club do not have the required financial means to rope in the AC Milan star.

The next target who appears feasible for the administration, thus, is Juventus’ Federico Chiesa who is in the final year of his contract in Turin and clear about not renewing.

Green light given

As revealed in a recent update by SPORT, Chiesa has placed all other offers on hold as it stands to prioritize a move to Barcelona and is said to have even given the green light from his side for the transfer.

In fact, he is willing to reduce the salary he currently earns (€6 million per season) to just €4.5 million if the Blaugrana offer him a three-year contract. Manchester United, Chelsea and Inter Milan are all interested in his signing but the winger only wants Barcelona.

All that remains for Barcelona to close the deal now is reaching an agreement with Juventus, one that will not be half as challenging as it appears given the player’s contractual situation.

The bigger hurdle, needless to say, is to ensure that they have the required financial means to register Chiesa as a new first-team player.

The transfer fee

Juventus and Barcelona have been in constant contact in recent hours and it is clear that the transfer fee is one of the primary points of discussion.

The Old Lady demanded €14 million for Chiesa’s transfer initially but are now supposedly willing to come down to just €10 million to close the deal.

With the winger giving his green light and Juventus desperate to sell, the move could well fall into place this summer. All eyes, needless to say, are on Barcelona’s wage bill and FFP numbers.
