Barcelona’s young star, Lamine Yamal, has quickly become a standout player under Hansi Flick in this season’s La Liga campaign.

Though he did not score in Barcelona’s recent goal-filled match against Valladolid, he played a crucial role by providing two assists. The first assist set up Robert Lewandowski, while the second assist led to the fifth goal, finished by Raphinha.

Yamal’s performance this season has been remarkable, especially in terms of his playmaking ability. He has now accumulated four assists, making him the leading assist provider in La Liga so far.

Youngest to 10 La Liga assists

At just 17 years and 49 days old, Yamal has achieved something extraordinary. He is now the youngest player in La Liga history to provide ten assists, and he has reached a total of twenty assists in his professional career.

To put this into perspective, Lionel Messi did not reach ten assists in LaLiga until he was over 20 years old, and he reached twenty assists when he was 21. Yamal is setting records and breaking them, showcasing his potential to become one of the greats.

Moreover, Yamal has either scored or assisted in eight consecutive games. This streak includes the last four games he played for Barcelona in La Liga and the last four matches he played for the Spanish national team during the European Championship.

Yamal has also matched a unique record held by Lionel Messi. He is the first Barcelona player since Messi in the 2014-15 season to provide four assists in the first four La Liga games of a single season.

In his 42 appearances in La Liga, Yamal has been involved in a total of 14 goals, scoring six and assisting eight. This level of contribution is the highest ever by a player under 18 years old in the competition during the 21st century, surpassing the record previously held by Bojan Krkic, who was involved in 13 goals (10 goals and three assists).
