Barcelona worried about key defender’s condition due to national team silence

According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are growing increasingly anxious about Ronald Araujo’s condition.

This is because the Uruguayan Football Federation has yet to provide detailed information about the defender’s injury, leaving the team to suspect that the problem may be more serious than initially thought.

It must be remembered that Araujo picked up a muscle injury while playing for his national team last Saturday against Brazil. 

He felt discomfort in the back of his right thigh after clearing a ball against and had to leave the match after just 30 minutes. Nearly a week has passed, and Barcelona still haven’t received detailed information about the injury. 

The uncertainty has only heightened their concern and the club fears that the injury could be significant, potentially sidelining their crucial defender for an extended period.

Uruguay haven’t said much

The Uruguayan Football Federation conducted medical tests and issued a brief statement last Tuesday. 

They mentioned that “in the quarter-final match of the 2024 Copa América against Brazil, footballer Ronald Araujo had to be substituted due to a physical problem. After the studies were carried out, it was confirmed that it was a muscle injury.”

However, this statement lacked detailed information, leaving Barcelona in the dark. Araujo’s entourage have informed that the initial images were unclear, and further tests would be conducted after the Copa America to get a precise diagnosis.

Araujo is set to return to Barcelona

Meanwhile, it is said that Araujo’s return to Barcelona is anticipated this Friday or Saturday since Uruguay are knocked out of Copa America. 

Upon his arrival, he will undergo a thorough examination by Barcelona’s medical team. The club plans to begin a corresponding recovery plan based on the detailed assessment of his condition.

The delay in receiving comprehensive medical information from the Uruguayan Football Federation is causing significant stress within the Barcelona camp. 

This is because Araujo is not just any player; he is a central figure in their defence. His absence could have serious implications for the team’s performance in the upcoming season.

Barcelona’s medical team is ready to take over Araujo’s case as soon as he lands. They aim to understand the full extent of his injury and set up a tailored recovery plan. 

The club’s priority is to ensure that he gets the best possible care and is back on the field as soon as it is safe for him to play.
