Barcelona have, on paper, one of the best defensive lines in football. Ronald Araujo is often seen leading the quartet, with Jules Kounde having developed into a solid full-back, too.
Inigo Martinez’s experience has been key this season, especially in intense games like those against Mallorca, Real Sociedad, and Porto.
Andreas Christensen keeps on performing as well, and under all of them, Pau Cubarsi has come through as one of the most important players in the second half of the season.
The defence has been in rather unimpressive form this season, but were breaking all sorts of record under Xavi last campaign, with Marc-Andre ter Stegen in unbeatable form, as well.
Barcelona are, however, planning to offload one of Christensen or Kounde in the summer to raise money through sales and hopefully get back to the 1:1 spending system in La Liga.
Luckily, though, it seems even their reserve sides are stacked right now, with a certain Mika Faye knocking on the first-team door while doing exceptionally well for Barcelona Atletic this season.
Faye is even set to be included in Senegal’s team for the upcoming international break, as per a report by Fabrizio Romano.
Senegal will take on Gabon on 22nd March, and then Benin on 26th March this month as part of international friendlies, and presumably believe this is the best time to shuffle their side and introduce fresh faces to test the waters.
Faye has not, interestingly enough, made his debut for the Barcelona senior-team yet. In fact, he has only received one call-up all season — against Mallorca last weekend —, with Araujo suspended.
His form for the B side has been unquestionably top, though, with three goals already this season, including three in his last four matches.
