The past few days have been filled with a lot of movements at FC Barcelona as they look to close some key operations before the transfer window slams shut this week.

Ilkay Gundogan, Mika Faye, Clement Lenglet, and Vitor Roque are all out of the club and the Catalans are now close to sanctioning another exit.

Alex Valle headed to Celtic

Indeed, according to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona’s young left-back Alex Valle is on his way to joining Scottish giants Celtic on a season-long loan deal.

Valle, 20, returned to the club this summer after spending the last season on loan at UD Levante where he did fairly well.

The youngster seemed set to continue at Barça after being regularly involved during the pre-season, where he even featured as a makeshift right-back and did well.

However, Valle has fallen behind Gerard Martin in the pecking order at left-back and as such Barcelona have sanctioned his loan departure, with a move to Celtic now imminent.

Valle extends contract before leaving

However, considering that his current contract with the club stands to expire next year, Barcelona have renewed Valle’s deal until 2026.

The Catalan giants had an option to trigger an automatic extension which would have seen the left-back’s salary rise by around €1 million and his release clause jump to €30 million.

However, Barcelona decided against activating that option and once that expired on August 1, his release clause dropped to just €3 million.

But now before he departs on loan, Barcelona have secured a renewal agreement with the La Masia graduate over a new deal until 2026, although it is yet to be made official.

Valle will travel to Glasgow with his agent today to undergo medical and sign for Celtic. The youngster will hope to make the most of his time with the Scottish giants, who do not have a buy option for the youngster as part of the loan deal.
