Barcelona young midfielder shares positive message after injury layoff

Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez encountered a significant hurdle just as the new season began. 

After an incredible summer where he celebrated victories in both the European Championship and the Olympic Games, the midfielder now faces an unexpected challenge. 

Selected to join the U21 Spanish squad, Fermin’s plans were derailed when he suffered an injury during the first day of training camp, forcing him to return to Barcelona.

The injury, identified as a torn muscle, is expected to sideline Fermin for approximately three to four weeks. 

This development was officially confirmed by both the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and Barcelona, with Barça President Joan Laporta also acknowledging Fermin’s absence during his media appearance on Tuesday.

Positivity amidst adversity

Taking to social media, Fermin shared his thoughts on the situation with a motivational message, “There are falls that will make you fly.” 

The post was accompanied by a black-and-white photo of himself, depicted in a shadowy silhouette, symbolising his determination to overcome this setback.

The incident with the footballer occurred after Fermin arrived at the Spanish Under-21 national team’s training camp on Monday. 

He participated in the afternoon session alongside his teammates, but by the end of the training, he began to feel some discomfort. Following this, he underwent an MRI scan, which confirmed the injury, leading to his discharge from the hospital.

Fortunately, the injury is not considered severe. The discomfort is mainly attributed to the intense summer he endured, where he played a crucial role in Spain’s success at the Euros and the Olympic Games in Paris. 

The demanding schedule has taken its toll on his body, and now, a period of rest is essential for his full recovery. In any way, it remains to be seen whether he will be available for the next league game against Girona or not.
