Marc Casado is one of many Barça Athletic youngsters looking to make their presence felt under new coach Hansi Flick.

A defensive midfielder by trade, Casado has appeared for the senior side a few times this past season and is a key member of Spain’s U17 setup.

As Barcelona look to kickstart their preparation for the season ahead, Casado’s excellent performances with the reserve side, coupled with his player profile, means he is well-positioned to make a breakthrough in the 2024/25 campaign.

Keeping his growth in mind, the Catalans have been keen on renewing the player’s contract, which will expire at the end of the month.

“Both the club and I are on the same line, we are just talking about four things that are not important. We believe that the best thing for me and what both parties want is to continue wearing this shirt for a long time and I hope that is the case,” he said (h/t Diario SPORT).

Casado’s renewal could be significant for Barça as the club continue to build the foundation of the future team, which should involve fellow La Masia graduates such as Pau Cubarsi, Lamine Yamal, Alejandro Balde, Gavi and Hector Fort, among others.

As Casado inches closer to renewal with Barça, the midfielder will look to continue his strong growth. His ultimate objective this summer is to impress new coach Hansi Flick during the club’s pre-season campaign.

Casado appears to have already wooed Barcelona president Joan Laporta and it could only be a matter of time before Flick, too, catches a glimpse of the talented midfielder in action.
