Alex Valle was one of several Barcelona players to leave the club in the summer in search of more prominence elsewhere.

Although Hansi Flick reportedly wanted to keep hold of the young Spaniard, the player wanted to leave Barça to play more frequently.

As a result, Valle opted for a loan move to Celtic, which interestingly did not include any buy option for the Scottish giants.

As reported by SPORT, Valle is making a gradual yet impressive adaptation to life at Celtic, and his early performances are inviting optimism back at Barcelona.

It seems the surprising decision to join a less media-focused league like the Scottish Premiership is proving to be a smart move for the young full-back’s development.

Despite a slow start, Valle has now started to regularly feature in Celtic’s lineup. He has already registered two assists, including an eye-catching backheel pass in the match against St Johnstone.

Valle’s performances are generating optimism at Barcelona, especially because of the fact that the Spaniard brings technical efficiency and flexibility to the table, which could be useful for Flick when the player eventually returns to the club.

Celtic wanted a buy option

Interestingly, Celtic wanted to include a purchase option in the loan deal, but Valle and his representatives opted not to.

This decision ensures the player’s future remains in his control once the season ends. Although he extended his contract with Barça until 2026, his relatively low release clause could make him a target for significant offers next summer.

For now, Valle is focusing on his development, with a crucial Champions League match against Atalanta just around the corner, where he could make his debut as a starter in the competition.
