Manchester United goalkeeper Radek Vitek is attracting interest from League One side Barnsley.

Barnsley are believed to be in the hunt for a new goalkeeper as they prepare for their first season under the management of Darrell Clarke.

Vitek isn’t the only target on Barnsley’s radar, though. The Tykes also have their eyes on Chelsea stopper Gabriel Slonina.

The 20-year-old joined League Two side Accrington Stanley on loan in January to gain first-team experience, while Slonina had the same intentions during his temporary spell in Belgium with Eupen.

The young United keeper went on to make 18 appearances for the Lancashire outfit across all competitions.

Vitek and Slonina are now back with their parent clubs.

In a recent update from Alan Nixon via Patreon (£), Barnsley have been ‘chasing’ Vitek over recent times but Slonina has emerged as a ‘leading’ candidate.

Vitek joined United’s academy in 2020 from SK Sigma Olomouc.

Barnsley will kick off the new campaign this evening with a home clash against newly promoted Mansfield Town at Oakwell. Then they face Wigan Athletic next Tuesday in the first round of the Carabao Cup.

Only time will tell what the future holds for Vitek at United.
