Barry Keoghan revealed he doesn’t have a “normal father-son relationship” with his 2-year-old child, Brando, whom he shares with ex Alyson Kierans.

“I’ll just say this — I didn’t have a father figure growing up, so even my relationship with my son isn’t quite of the normal father-son relationship because I don’t have that figure to draw experience from and to base it on,” the “Saltburn” actor told “Entertainment Weekly” at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival.

The 31-year-old then clarified, “Love, you don’t need anything to draw from. Love is pure, and so, I’m not on about that. But I’m on about little stuff like teaching your son this or teaching your daughter that.”

The “Eternals” actor previously revealed his dad was absent from his life and his mother had succumbed to drug addiction when he was just 12. As a result, he and his brother grew up in foster care.

Keoghan — who tends to keep his personal life private — recently posted a selfie with the toddler while they spent time together.

“He’s more of a charmer than i am. Our wee Brando ☘️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿,” he captioned the Instagram snap.

While speaking with Vanity Fair in February, Keoghan said it was “very important” to him that his son is “able to grow up and be proud of his daddy, and to lean on his daddy.”

He also commended his ex as an “incredible mother” who has done a “great job” raising their son.

The former couple dated for almost three years and welcomed their son in August 2022. However, they confirmed their split by January 2024.

By February 2024, he debuted his relationship with Sabrina Carpenter, 25, after attending the Grammys afterparty together.

Though they sparked split rumors recently, an insider told Page Six exclusively they are still going strong. He even watched the “Espresso” singer rehearse for her MTV Music Video Awards performance.
